Kemi-TornioEstablished in 1869 by Czar Alexander II and now a city of around 20000 inhabitants, Kemi is a popular tourist attraction and the principal seaport for Finnish Lapland. Main attractions include the Kemi Snow Castle and cruises on board the arctic icebreaker Sampo.
Only twenty kilometres from Kemi, the cities of Tornio and Haaparanta live in sound harmony both culturally and economically, despite being located in different countries and time zones and even having different currencies.
